Mazda 3 sport brakes/bushes/drop links

So I've got to replace my front brake pads on my Mazda 3 in 1000 miles but unsure what to do. Whether to go for the standard brakes or go for high performance brakes? Personally I'd like a set that would last me for a long time.

I've also been quoted £315 to replace bushes and drop links as there is slight play in my steering when going over a hole in the road. Is this a fair price?

I'm an amateur when it comes to looking for car repairs. Always pay a price which I though was Ok, only to find out I could have got a better deal elsewhere.
