Neglected my mx5
Discussion
Mine was the same. I hadn't touched it since putting it away at the end of last summer. Surprisingly, after giving the battery a charge, it fired straight up. The brakes were a little sticky, but after half a mile or so they sorted themselves out.
As long as your'e insured, I believe you can drive it to the MOT station you're booked into.

Mine wasn't started for 13 months.
I put a fresh battery on it, removed the HT leads and cranked it for a short while to get some oil circulating. Popped the leads back on and it fired instantly.
It was a bit tappy for a while, but was fine after a short run.
You can drive it to a pre booked MOT, but it must be insured.
