Hi guys,

I am looking to insure my Mazda MX5 1.8 MK1, however I seem to have hit a bit of a roadblock. I'm 18 which doesn't help. I have driven this car a lot on the track and love it to pieces, yet it is probably only worth £900.00. It does have some modification such as a cold air intake, alloy wheels, lowered on springs and non standard tires. I can't find insurance any where, I have a main car which is for general commuting, so would only do about 1000 - 2000 miles a year. I've tried everything I can think of so wondered if you could give me any tips.

The fact of the matter is that when I don't declare the modifications I can afford insurance on the MX5. As soon as I put the modifications on it the cost spirals to 10K or 5K, the cheapest I have seen is 4K which surprisingly I can't afford! wink

If there is no alternative I think I will have to just enjoy it on the track and wait until I am 25!

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the likes of A-Plan, Adrian Flux etc?

I have enquired about insuring my son on my kit but the answer seems to be wait until he's 25...

I have yes. I am having a similar problem to your son.

I have also enquired about owners club discounts but I'm unsure if they would help at all.
