Slid into the kerb at about 15-20mph sideways and smashed the rear wheel enough to bend and crack a 5 inch part of the rim. Hit the front wheel at the same time, bent steering out slightly, tiny scuff on rim , no other damage.

So Ive replaced my rear wheel for a good one, but now i get a resonate humming on the rotation of the wheel speed, it increases with speed and comes from about 35mph upwards, what have I bent or damaged that needs replacing? (cv joint?drive shafts?wheel bearing? LSD ?)

Also the rear and front wheel alignment is out, the rear wheel is toeing in and fronts knocked out etc... Obviously I want to get it 4 weel alignment, but I need to replace whats making that noise first because If i get my wheels aligned then realize I have to replace a part of the rear drivetrain or rear suspension or whatever and then it would need doing again ? so only want to pay for it once , so trying to work out what it is then get it all aligned.

Any ideas welcome and much appreciated

and yes I am a spanner for sliding it into the kerb it was all my fault

I hit a kerb once before myself at a similar speed and damaged a wheel bearing causing a humming at particular speeds so I would look into that first

I had a similar incident.

In the end I had to replace the subframe, hub, hub to wishbone long bolt and the wheel.

The long bolt will most likely be the obvious thing to spot that's causing the toe in at the rear. The humming will probably be the bent hub flange causing the brake disc to rub against the pads once per wheel rotation. You'll be unlucky if the subframe is bent like mine was but this will be clear when you go to get it aligned.

going off what you guys have said and what a friend mechanic said to me, I think im going to replace the wheel bearing and go from there.
The way the noise is and that it gains with speed is just like when a bearing is knackered, so Im hoping its just this.

Once replaced and the noise goes then I can also check wishbone bolts for damage etc... then when all is good I will get the 4 wheeel alignment and It should be driving square again.

Cheers for advice
