After 13 years of ownership , I thought it was time to upgrade the OEM radio , nothing wrong with it , in fact it still can hold its own against the latest car radios so far as the sound output is concerned. Its just it lacks DAB and sat nav , I am a fan of DAB due to the different stations not on FM, and up to now I rely on TomTom for navigation , but would like to get rid of the obstruction to a smallish windscreen .also in line with latest mobile phone regulations am unable to use mine due to lack of Bluetooth
So there is my spec for a different radio. DAB , Bluetooth, sat nav
The OEM is a double din unit ,I have seen fitted in a works van I use , a Kenwood Multi function unit which I quite like the look of and not too bad prices on Amazon .
Anyone upgraded their double din OEM radio for something similar
What I wasn’t too keen on is the stick on DAB aerial in the corner of the screen ,I have an aftermarket DAB radio in my van and use a combiner ,which allows the DAB and FM sections of the radio to share the main aerial , has anyone used similar on their MX

I'm not fussed about DAB (much prefer to have my own music) but I've got a Pioneer DEH-X5600BT single DIN unit and a cubby hole to fill the space in my mk2.5 - it's a nice little unit and does everything I want it to do, including working with the electric aerial.

I'd recommend putting some better speakers in the doors (the standard ones are rubbish IMO) along with some Dynamat inside the doors. I did this and now it's almost on par with the stereo in my Volvo daily.

Thanks, but that solution doesn't give me sat nag ,which would be the main reason to change

If you think the standard stereo is decent you are in for a surprise. The stereo itself doesn't have enoug power to really drive decent speaker and the standard speakers are poor. Upgrading even using a cheap budget head unit & speakers is a very big upgrade in sound quality.
