Stuck Gearbox Fill Plug on my NA
Discussion
It was my intention to replace all fluids on my 95 1.8. I've done all of the others but the gearbox oil filler plug is pretty stuck. Luckliy I tried removing this before the drain plug so the car is very much still mobile but I would like to have another crack at this sometime.
Having read a few horror story about damaging the housing around the plug if you go over the top with a breaker bar, I thought I better seek some advice first.
Annoyingly it's a 14mm square plug so have only been using a spanner and penetrating fluid thus far. Didn't fancy trying much heat with 2l of oil sat right next to it.

Got anyway to add heat? Always worked for me on stuck filler plugs (although not on a 5 I admit). Quick blast with a standard blowtorch seems to work wonders
I have a blowtorch on standby. Had a couple of reservations about using heat though. Firstly all that oil sat the other side of the plug. I could drain the oil first of course but then I'm buggered if I can't shift the fill plug. And the other thing was that with this being a plug I wasn't sure that expanding it through heat would have any great benefit.
