Was v much looking forward to testing an RF this morning only to find that my head is about 1 cm away from the roof. Moving the seat forward and then reclining the backrest didn't work either; there's no room for the backrest to recline enough. Tried a soft top and that was no better, perhaps slightly worse. I'm not that tall (5' 11") but with a relatively long torso. Was v disappointed - the idea of a compact lightweight weatherproof sports car with a powered folding top was quite appealing. Oh well.

Nd is certainly snug. Think the nc is a bit better and still ticks a lot of boxes

You must be a funny shape!
On a serious note I am just about 6ft & fit no problem at all, but I do concede that if I were a bit taller I would struggle, it is certainly snug in there. Mine is the full convertible, but I did also try the RF & agree that headroom is a bit less in that.

Hi,

A colleague of mine is looking at the new MX5, (the Artic edition) and he had the same issue regarding headroom. He's not on Pistonheads yet, hence me asking the question, but he was wondering if there are any aftermarket seats that might fit with a shallower squab? He's happy to have the seat fixed as he will be the only driver.

I suspect he'll have to put up with it or go for something else.

Thanks in advance.

I briefly considered a similar idea but reckon it would need something like a Tillet or similar which was too big a compromise for a daily driver, at least in my eyes.

Thanks, for info, that's the only alternative I could come up with, which for daily use wouldn't be suitable.

Think he is going to try and borrow an MX5 for 24 hours to see if he can live with the headroom in normal use.

The purists would say that in it's default driving configuration you have infinite head room.

I sat in an rf at the weekend And headroom was very bad, not sure I would be able to drive one with the roof on but I am freakishly tall.
Surely changing seats would mess up airbags and things?
