Quick question on cam angle sensor

I'm right in the middle of sorting the cas oring and cam cover gasket on my mk1. I've managed to get the cas all the way back in but before I fire it up am I right in thinking that the cas can only go in one way? From what I understand the two tabs are offset therefore making it impossible to push all the way in if rotated 180 degrees out of position?

Yes it only fits one way around. If you didn't mark the case and housing before removal you'll need a timing strobe light to make sure its rotated to the right position so the timing is correct.

Just a tip i haven't heard mentioned before. If you are doing this while the cam cover is off, shine a torch from the other side of the cas aperture along the top of the cam and you can see the orientation of the slots. Makes aligning the cas a lot easier.
