Settle a NA brake debate for me!
Discussion
Hello all,
I co-own a 1.8 NA.
My co-owner has snagged an ebay bargain on some brake pads. The advert listed for a Mk2, but the pads that have arrived are for a mx5 1.6 (89-98) - which is a 1.6 NA if I'm correct? He won't believe me that these pads will be too small as the 1.8 has larger discs and pads.
Am I wrong or can I stay on my high horse?
And as an aside, will they fit if he tries? I assume they will length wise, just they aren't as wide so you lose braking performance as well as I guess uneven wear and probably some danger?
cheers!

As above ^^
The caliper holders for 1.8 brake pads are larger than on 1.6's so the pads won't fit - full stop...
If they haven't been serviced for some time you could do worse than dismantling the calipers and clean/re-grease paying particular attention to the slide pins which have been known to drag, if not seize up.
Plenty of info on MX5N*tz.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe.
