Hi all

I've got a '99 Mk2 1.8 and looking to hillclimb in the modified Road category. This means either a 2.0 NA or a 1.4 FI engine. I suspect that the FI would be easier to extract power from, but is there a 1.4 block that will fit relatively easily and take some decent boost?
Cheers
James

Just in case you're not aware of it FI puts you up against much more powerful cars.
That's why Horney (see Mighty5s) has gone to throttle bodies for his hillclimb and sprint car this year.
Worth dropping him a PM for chapter and verse.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe.

Thanks Pewe

That's why I was looking at downsizing to a 1.4 block. I think they use FI displacement as 1.4x actual displacement so a 2.0 runs in the same category as a 1.4 Turbo/Supercharged? Could be wrong though

I think if you were vaguely serious you would have Googled '1.4 turbo'.
Nothing is easy, it's difficult, time consuming and expensive.

If you are running inthe Farborough events I read a post of Horneys on nutz that may interest you. The class has changed to 1.6 - 2.3 so a 1.6 FI fits in class. I think this is from the ASEMC regs.

The capacity multiplier is 1.4.

Here in the South West the split is 1.8 - 2.6 soa 1.8 FI engine fits in class.

check everything I have said against the regs the organising club put out.
