Hello all,

I know its a thread well done, but all the ones i can find are from years ago and none of the people making them seem to be active any more.

Does anyone still fabricate mounts to fit the elise s1 seat to the mk1 mx5. I'm ideally looking for something negating the runners and just bolting to the existing floor mounts as I'm very tall! found a few from europe/usa but the seem ludicrously expensive.

cheers

ive got a pair of side mounts for an NA that could possibly be butchered. though i found that if i mounted the seats to the mounts then i couldnt access the floorbolts and if i bolted to the floor first i couldnt get the seat bolts to the lhs because of the transmission tunnel.

You can fit them to the runners and they will still be only just off the floor anyway as they fit between the runners. You won't get any lower by removing the runners. I made brackets for mine using a box section for the front mounts (studs on the seat) and bent aluminium bar for the rear mounts (captive nuts on the sides).

I had S1 seats and swapped to S2. S2 seats are very similar but much more comfortable.

Randamonia on mx5nutz makes them to order. I bought mine from him and was very impressed...

Got any pictures of how you mounted them Lazza?
I found the plastic base didn't quite fit between the mx rails and ended up making custom mounts which got the plastic virtually touching the floor which bought me a a good chunk of extra height. Hopefully I was just being dim and there is a better solution than my rather ugly brackets!
Everything I've seen where the original runners are used looks a bit like the image below and way off the floor...
