Mould patches on cloth hood
Discussion
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum.
Keen lady MX5 owner, its a silver 2005 model - 1.8 manual which I've had for @ 5 years.
Forgive me if this has been raised before but I would like some advice about mould patches.
There are grey/green patches on the cloth hood. I think it is becoming less waterproof (is that the correct term). The inside still feels dry after rain but I can't rub or wash the patches away.
Is there any spray or treatment which would kill the mould and rejuvenate the waterproofing?
Thanks if you can help.
Helen xx

I assume you have a fabric, rather than vinyl hood.
This is what I've used on my Boxster. (my MX5 had a vinyl hood)

I've also, once I've cleaned it, 'topped up' the waterproofing with a spray you can get from Tesco, designed for re-waterproofing coats etc.

Thank you Trabi, yes it is a cloth hood. I will get some and try it. xxThis is what I've used on my Boxster. (my MX5 had a vinyl hood)

Renovo roof cleaning and waterproofing products come highly rated so have a google for those. The green algae can be tough to shift though. Careful you don't scrub too much as you can damage the mohair if you go to hard.
Thank you drgoatboy. I will get some as well as the autoglym and try both. xxGassing Station | Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
