Mk4 Super Unleaded?

Just perusing the manual again the other night and read this:

"This vehicle will perform best with fuel listed in the table.

Premium unleaded fuel 91 [(R M)/2 method] or above (96 RON or above)


You may use a regular unleaded fuel with an Octane Rating from 87 to 90 (91 to 95 RON)
but this will slightly reduce performance, such as reduced engine output, and engine
knocking."

So are people running these on super unleaded? I've done 4000 miles in mine on regular. Could I get a bit more performance?

I run ours on super unleaded predominantly not done a conscious comparison so not sure if there is a performance impact.
