Mk2 facelift ,ie Mk2.5 . 2002
Having looked at tutorials on You Tube , consulted my Haynes manual , I got down to replacing the rear pads on my 5
All went ok with regard to fitting the pads winding the calliper back etc .
My problem now is adjustment , I wound the calliper screw forward to lock the disc and backed off as specified , assembled everything wheels on , only to find the handbrake lever pulls up to the stop without holding the car
I pumped the brake pedal and pulled the handbrake lever up and down expecting the slack to be taken up by the auto adjustment , but to no avail .
So for the time being I have adjusted the hand brake using the adjusting screw on the lever , although not perfect , the car will now hold on the handbrake .
I am sure there is more so be done at the callipers but would value any pointers as where I should be adjusting first, to get the specified 5/7 clicks

I would normally slacken the handbrake first, then replace the pads before finally tightening up the handbrake.

As above, make sure the handbrake is off and adjust the handbrake cable so there is plenty of slack before adjusting the calliper. Lock them up with the Allen key then back off 1/2 a turn. Finally readjust the handbrake at the cable.

Thanks for that , the bit about backing off handbrake adjustment was missing from Haynes process also from the video on YouTube
Also I my mistake in not pumping the brakes before adjusting , to get the callipers fully up to the pads
Jacks and stands out again today , I will report back
