Coming up for changing the tyres on my mk1 / NA. I want to stick to the existing size, 185/60-14.

What tyre should I go for, for best grip? Best all round grip that is. i.e. a track day tyre that is great when hot is no good on a wet cold night.

I am not too worried about cost or how long they last. I am a firm believer that tyres are cheap compared to the cost of an accident and the tyres on there now still have plenty of tread, but are very perished.

What do you people use, and how do you rate them?

Thanks. I was looking at PS3, as I have them on another car, but could not find them in that size.

I'm running Vredestein Sportrac 5 and haven't been disappointed!

I went up to 195/60/14 but they are available in 185 also.

I also have Vredestein Sportrac 5, they're a good all-rounder.

Uniroyal Rainsport 3

They're a soft tyre which gives good dry grip & the tread pattern works well in the wet. Perfect for a light car like the MX5.

Plus the price is a bargain- look on Camskill.

I've been using Nankang NS2R, great on track and rated B in the wet - they use them in the MX-5 championship
