Mazda mx5 mk3 clatter at low speed
Discussion
Hi all - I'm new to owning an mx5 and am very excited there is so much information and support on here. Looking forward to learning more about them and hopefully being able to contribute more on here as I learn!
I have a question about a clatter that has developed when I am travelling at up to 10mph before it seems to go away. It happens when accelerating but also when slowing down with or without the breaks in that speed range. It happens when going forward or reverse. It doesn't happen when revving gently/firmly in neutral. There doesn't appear to be anything touching the break discs thst shouldn't be, or hanging from the car. It doesn't appear to be altering the driving of the car other than the natural irritation.
I have attached a short video recording on my Dropbox:

I hope this isn't against the rules: it's the best I can get at this stage but listen out of what sounds like a coat hanger scraping on the inside of a washing machine.
Thank you very much in advance!

From your description it sounds more clutch related, mine does judder a bit if you give it no revs when moving off just on the clutch.
Thank you for your reply Ninja 59 - I don't think I was very clear in my description so I hope it's ok to update in case that adds anything as it doesn't feel like the clutch to me (although very happy to be stood corrected... Despite it making this more expensive!). The noise isn't related to the position of the clutch pedal: it is purely speed related. Even if I drive with just the clutch and no revs, or if I slow down out of gear (not a habit I usually have but something I used to check this problem out!) - the noise is still there. Does that make any difference bases on what you've recommended?
Thanks in advance
Sam
