Well, I'm looking at my arch edges and they are really clean. As id like to keep them that way is there anyway to protect the paint from chipping/rust?
Especially where marked by the arrows in the pic where the spot welds are.
Ideas and suggestions appreciated

Stone chip paint I guess. You can get grey which might be most unobtrusive.

They don't really get chipped in that area unless you have a habit of peeling out on gravel. Your main enemy is rust and you wont want to put anything on there that will retain moisture. You if you wanted you could possibly treat the lip edge itself with some waxoil type stuff but make sure its clean and bone dry before you do that. That might buy you some time.

Personally prevention is better than cure - either don't drive it in the rain or on salted roads, or just keep them really clean and accept they will go at some stage - you cant avoid it if its a daily unfortunately. I've had new rear arches and that was a great job and even that's gonna go again at some stage and it doesn't go out in the wet unless i get caught out in it!

I agree J-Tuner,
This is more of a weekend car and not depended on for daily commuting. Im trying my best not to drive it in the rain and have yet in the 5 weeks that I've owned it.
Prevention is definitely better than cure so I'm gonna give the seams/edge another coat of haammerite and keep them as clean as possible.

Not paint but film. I think it's called Armo(u?)r Film or Armour Fend. It's like thick Sellotape, you stick it on the exposed edges.

You do know that these areas don't get chipped, don't you? The best protection is wax injection from the back and very careful sealing of the edges to make sure water doesn't get in the joint between the panels. Do this and your arches will last forever. Fail to do it and corrosion will set in in between the panels and chew its way out, film or not.

Yup, I've recently had it all undersealed and prior to that it was in very good condition underneath. I've painted over the edges with a thick coat of hamerite and it looks all in good order. So fingers crossed I may have prolonged their longevity for a while
