I have 2 questions regarding lighting in a Mk2 Mx5

1. Is the boot meant to be lit when you open it? When going in a night it's a black hole of small luggage space. I have taped a manual torch-type strip light just as a temporary fix, or I just leave the headlights on and use the numberplate lights, but wondered if there's an automatic version?

2. We all know the stock interior light is very dim, so I was thinking of replacing it with a bright LED - anyone done this, and anyone know where to get one that fits? Halfords etc only sell a slightly too long LED, and I can't find any online at mx5 parts etc.

I don't think the Mk2 has a boot light.

The Mk 2.5 uses the number plate light as a boot light, which works fine. It comes on automatically when you pop the lid, regardless of the headlights.

As above, no boot light until Mk2.5 around 2002.
I have an 8 element LED in my interior light. It isn't actually much brighter to be honest but it is a lot whiter.
