Always liked the idea of a turbo / supercharged MX5 for track day / weekend work - views on this one for spec and value appreciated

It's had the kitchen sink thrown at it - from a specification perspective it's right up there with the best.

Value wise, it's up to you, but you certainly couldn't build a rust free standard car to that spec for the money.

I'd imagine the owner has a build thread somewhere - looks like the sort of car that'd be fairly well known on Nutz.

Great find.

It seems to be looked after but with any heavily modified car the return on the investment into modifying will be small. I would say it's over priced.

Good spec, silly price tag.

My car is a similar spec so it's nice to know it's worth so much biglaugh

I've just spent a hell of alot more than that just on my engine, so it does seem a know brainer, you couldn't build a car to that spec for that money

Just buy it, I'm sure you won't regret it

Overpriced? I think not. It looks immaculate! As long as it is as described (and by the pictures it certainly does) then it's a bit of a bargain.

As said above the engine conversion alone could be about the amount they're asking for this as a whole. You might be able to haggle a bit but probably not much.

When you do these sorts of mods to cars you don't expect to get the money back when you sell it. They are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Being modified actually reduces the target market.
I'd be astounded if someone wanted to pay that much for mine!

What mileage is on yours Lazza? I seem to remember looking over a bloody nice car, and wouldn't think anything odd for a similar figure. After all, if anything the market for well modified FI 5s is increasing, as they've become more popular with the younger crowd. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big sum of money for the performance and fun.

Can't remember what suspension you had - those ohlins are a bit tasty!

For me, a big part of the appeal of this one (and I've emailed him offering a swap for my GTM) is the fact he's effectively used the catalogue of TDR and FM. Probably the closest to OEM standards I've seen. Which I like a lot.

He will be losing money at this price surely - that intercooler kit alone is $1k, and the pound is weak.

I'm a little smitten.

To Joe Public you're probably right. To an enthusiast not so much. I very much doubt someone with no interest in cars will buy something like a supercharged MX-5. Something like this that has had a £5k+ conversion done to it is gonna sell for more than one that hasn't.

So you agree with me. The target market has been reduced wink

As for my car Sway... Something like 85k of very careful miles biggrin
Mk2.5 UK Sport with AC
MP62 charger
TDR intercooler
550cc RC injectors
Adaptronic ECU
AEM Uego O2 sensor
FM Twincooler (aluminium combined coolant radiator & oil cooler)
TDR heat blanket
Oil filter relocated
GAZ Gold Pro with 400/300 springs
Larini Sports cat
Larini Sports mid pipe
Racing Beat Power Pulse Dual back box
Hard Dog Deuce roll bars
Mk3 heated leather seats

NOT FOR SALE!!!

And plenty of other stuff. Well over £11k spent. Car itself bought at 2 years old for £11k.
There is no way I'd expect even close to the £11k spent on mods if I was to sell it.

No, I wouldn't expect the full amount back Laz, but I would be shocked if you couldn't get the £6.5-7k this guy is asking...

He's not responded to my mail, so assume he's not interested in a British, composite chassis lightweight thoroughbred!
