Have just this evening noticed that someone has taken the time to put a dent in the offside front wing of my Mk3. I think I've figured out exactly when and where it would have happened, and it's been at quite slow speed. No paint damage as far as I can tell and I think (hope) that it hasn't creased at all and I can pop it back out.

Dark outside so can't take a photo or really inspect at all, but have drawn on a stock photo below to show the location.

Does anyone know how best I can access the rear of that part of the panel? From memory I think if I have the arch lining out I'm not going to be able to reach far enough in. From under the bonnet I'm not going to get at it either, so I think it's behind the foot well trim.

Anyone gone rummaging behind there before? Are we talking full dash out or convenient trim removal and a bit of sound insulation?

Thanks

Remove side repeater and push out with a long hook, use heat gun to loosen up the panel if needed.

You can't gain access from inside the car, The wing simply bolts onto the structure which goes up to the door shut.

Fairly easy to take the wing off, takes about 10 mins.

Bolt locations are...2 bolts under the side skirt at the bottom of the wing (side skirt pops off), 1 bolt in the door hinge area near top (open the door to get to it) 4 bolts along the top of the wing and 2 nuts holding the bumper on at the top under the wheel arch liner.

You will probably find it won't come out and you will need a new wing...usually about £80 in the correct colour off ebay.
