Really getting into my mx5. Went out for a great drive yesterday.
How can you not love these cars. Was by far fastest thing on road, redlining every gear for whole drive got back and it only cost 6pnd in fuel. In my bmw it would have cost 15 and i doubt i would even be any faster.
On the road from balloch to drymen i was behind a lovely lotus exige, really goes to show what knowing a road and a capable wee car can do. He has twice the power and the same weight but was holding me up as on these type of roads if he uses his power all that happens is he brakes more and loses all his momentum. He was properly gunning out out of every corner but it only gained him about a couple of car lengths max on each straight which i took back round every corner.
Was so much fun untill we met another car which he breezed by and i got stuck behind as i lost all momentum and the 5 needs a good bit room to build it back up for an overtake. Also i had a passenger slowing me down.
Cant wait for summer and some roadtrips further north.

I bet you've got some lovely roads up there.

Your profile picture is upside down by the way.

The roads are fantastic around loch lomond area and the mx5 feels about right for most of them. Not taken it further north than the top of the loch yet but that will change later in the year.
Ive went on a driving/cycling holiday in scotland the last three years, IF you get the weather i cant recommend it enough. Was great fun in the bmw but i think the mx5 will be even better. Applecross and the surrounding area is my favourite at the moment, for both car and bike.
Hope to get mx5 up their later in the year.
My old iphone liked to flip pictures for no good reason. Thanks for the heads up.

I fondly remember working on the Classic Malts Rally, a full circuit of Scotland, in my MX-5. That week was one of most memorable of my motoring life. You are very lucky to be in Scotland, a beautiful country.
With roads like this, you will have fun in your car.
Here you go

Classic Malts Rally 2002
Somewhere in Scotland
A week long circuit of Scotland. The MX-5 was perfect, thrashed all the way.

Brilliant roads, brilliant car for them as they are narrow and can be twisty. Love far NW and north coast.

Fit a turbo, that should improve your passing ability and you still have fun on the corners.
