Replaced a broken headlight assembly on my son's Mk2.5.
The main beam connection differs -
On the old broken unit, we had a wire spring to retain the bulb with a square connector fitting on the two bulb blades / pins. He broke the light fitting prising the wire out !
On the new unit, we have a black plastic bulb holder ( much better to remove ) needing an oval male 2 pin connector which I don't have.

Currently the main beam is not wired up ( all other lights connect up ).
I don't think I can retrospectively fit the old bulb holder and spring in the new light.
Do I need a new bulb holder if available, presumably with an alternative square connector, a new wire adaptor connecting from square to oval or just the oval plug that fits into the bulb holder and solder that in place of the original square terminal block.
Thanks in anticipation.

Look like maybe you need one of these

Needs to be fitted into your old harness to suit the newer bulb style

Thanks Oldandslow - that looks just what I want.
Much obliged - I knew PH would help.
The female socket looks like a figure 8 so definitely the main beam connector version.
It looks like I will be warming the soldering iron up.
