Looks like I'll be needing new disks on my car in the near future. I've not bothered with taking it on track but it is something I wouldn't mind trying in the future (whether I'll find the cash is another matter as times are tight).
Question is I know people say the standard disks are fine but are the aftermarket ones good as well such as the Pagid or Brembo disks on euro car parts or the aftermarket ones on mx5parts?

The Mx5 Supercup racers including myself pretty much exclusively use the Pagid discs, with either EBC blue/yellow stuff or Carbotech pads.

Carbotech pads are better on track, but are a bit scary when cold. So I wouldn't use them on the road.

DISCS.

Disks are square. Discs are round.

I've been using the Brembo ones on my NC for about 6000 miles. I replaced all 4 discs and all pads at the same time. They really are very good at stopping and I am yet to smoke them even when pushing HARD. But... from about 3000 miles old they developed an inconsistent feel. It is just like 1/4 of one disc is braking harder than all the others. It's fine when pushing on, but at medium speeds it becomes rather noticeable. I arrive at traffic lights gently nodding my head!! It doesn't feel like warpage as there is no vibration or rumble associated with it. I won't fit them again.

After having EBC Green Stuff pads on my Elise, I wouldn't ever use them again. Like wood from cold.

The Brembo oe spec replacement discs are top quality, as are their pads. They get my vote for road use over the other options. Refresh the fluid if not been changed for a while, job done
