Chaps,

I am planning a bit of light restoration (sills, arches etc) on a 1997 Eunos Roadster B2 Ltd. At present the car has no mud guards fitted whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure that the other 5s I have been involved with have all had them. Should the B2?

Cheers.

Never seen a Mk1 without them, that I can think of!

Easily obtainable though.

My first mk1 didn't have them - I always thought it looked quite elegant without. Looking at a pic now, it could have done with slightly bigger wheels and slightly lower suspension, though.

And for comparison, both front and rear mudflap things, lower and on 15"s:

One of the first things I did when I got my mx5 was remove the mudguards ha. Horrible things IMO.
I noticed that they trap a lot of mud so something to keep an eye on if you fit them.

I must say I'm rather torn. It does look cleaner without them, but somehow lacks presence.

Car is currently standard with original 14" rims. Now want a set of 15" Enkeis....

On the rear, where the mudguard runs up beyond the plastic bumper and covers metal, can be a nasty dirt trap = rust issues.....ask me how I know (the mudguards you can see in the picture are front ones being used at the back)

Oh, and I've yet to remove any with original fixings that haven't been so rusted solid they needed grinding off !!

Yup. Had to grind mines off!

Unsurprising really, given their proximity to the spray off the rear wheels.

The cheaper "not buying new parts, not paying to have them painted and not creating a rust trap" option is looking more and more attractive.

Thanks gents.
