I've recently purchased a mk 1 mx5 with a very comprehensive service history. It's had a cam belt replacement in 2011 at 95000 miles . It's now on 133000 miles.
I'm getting different comments on whether it's due or not ?
Any advice welcome.

I'd do it for peace of mind. It's a straight forward job.

If its only been 38k miles since the last belt change then I'd leave it. It has another 10k to go. Unless... Do the records show that the water pump was done at the same time? If not I'd change it all now.

yes If you know the waterpump was done last time, dont worry about it so much. The belts aren't fragile.

If you don't know the waterpump history, then I'd plan to do that, in conjunction with a really good thorough front to back service, timing belt, plugs, all fluids, check and set the ignition timing and the idle system. Even all that should only be about £150 in parts.

But again, no need to rush it, get all the parts in and do at your leisure. Its all easy DIY stuff, or any decent local garage should be reasonable on labour due to the ease of it.
