Hi,

My niece drives my mk1 eunos 1.8 and the other day advised she'd went over a speed bump and there was a loud noise followed by constant scraping so she hadn't used it again....

I had a look today and there was a thick black metal wire hanging down and scraping along ground, runs along underside of transmission tunnel so assumed perhaps Speedo cable but Speedo is working fine....as is everything else based on a quick spin around the block....

I had the car on a trolley jack, with axle stand, but couldn't get right under to have a good look but stuck phone under for some pictures as attached.

Anyone able to advise what the cable is for such that I can get a replacement ordered up?

Thanks,
Chris

Looks exactly like this, awesome!

Any issue running the car without this?

Nah don't think so. Although I'm just reiterating what others have said on the forums - no personal experience with this.

The cat heat warning is just a dumb sensor i.e. if it gets too hot the element melts to create an open circuit and a "heat" warning light on the dash will light up. It's supposed to be an advanced warning of impending cat failure but it rarely actually means anything other than that the sensor has failed.
Most people usually just snip the sensor wires off and cable-tie them out of the way when the light comes on. It's a JDM only thing so it's not needed for MoT - however, if the warning light was on it would probably have to go on an MoT advisory list so better to just get rid.

Pretty sure it fails closed circuit. Then if you disconnect it the light goes out and stays off (mine did).

Since you broke the cable it's now open but you should tidy up those ends or un plug that end if you can. Might blow a fuse otherwise.
