Second MX5 Mk2.5 Sport(cheapo low mileage replacement for previous car) to garage having mended rear wings where they go over the sills. Also repaired the front rails, as well as a few other bits followed by wax and underseal, not to mention taking off all the braces and painting them. I'm on good terms with the tester, who also helps judge classic cars locally, so he knows that my repairs are reasonably neat and certainly tough. All well until the brake test when a hydraulic pipe failed, which was enormously irritating as the previous week my ancient Mercedes 190e had a caliper fail as well. I've never seen a casting failure like it before. All fixed now though, with a couple of new ends on and the making of a new copper brake pipe, and back next day for a retest. Annoying as this broke a long and proud record of straight passes, much to the tester's amusement. Grrr!
