Exhaust options
Discussion
Ey up fellow 5ers, I'm just curious as to what exhaust everyone is using as I'm in the market for one
I want something quite loud and decent looking, so far it's between
Cobalt @ £195.95 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/mazda/m...
MX5Parts @ £229.00 http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/stainless-steel-exhaust-...
IL Motorsport @ £248.51 http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/stainless-steel-exhaust-...
Or a custom one for around £300 from whichever local exhaust place I decide to use
So far I'm leaning towards the cobalt system as it seems to be loudest but I'm also looking for opinions if anyone has any on the above please
Thanks in advance

Racing Beat are my favourites. I have the dual-tip version on mine. Deeper sound but without any harshness. Quality is second to none.

Absolute favourites are Borla & FM but they are very expensive.

I've had an MX5parts single on my car for four or five years now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiW69bxqQ_k
That's my car!
Sound is loud enough but not too loud with the roof down, certainly about as loud as you'd like under WOT, but still relatively modest at steady throttle.
It's about quiet enough to get you into any trackday, including at Bedford Autodrome (they're pretty strict!) Volume was about 90dB at about 4000rpm at the tailpipe. If you hold out for an MX5parts sale, you might be able to get it cheaper than £229, too...

I think it was lowered a tiny bit, maybe 2-3cm.

Saying that though loads of people run over 100mm drops on their 5's without much problem
I have a Cobalt on mine - got it for £137 delivered when I needed an exhaust to replace the corroded original. Since I couldn't find any real examples of how different exhausts sounded it was a cheap shot in the dark. It's fine, bit droney at times and not massively loud outright, but it's a bit deep and not really in keeping with the MX5's character in my view. I'd prefer something with more of a 60s type rasp.
