Does anybody happen to have a spare (or full set) standard issue 17" wheel from a MK3 sport they want to sell? MX5 parts want ~£170 for a single replacement wheel.

Somewhere along the line one of mine has taken a smack and bent out of shape, resulting in some quite obvious vibration at track speeds. (And yes they are all perfectly balanced...just not all circular)

Unfortunately my wheels have all been painted a "unique" dark grey colour by a previous owner. So a single replacement will be obvious without getting them all a refurb.

So I could replace the lot, with some Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 (I like them in black), which is very tempting. Then flog the still round 3 wheels to cover some of the costs. scratchchin

What would you do?

Speak to Nick at MOT motorsport (http://www.motmotorsport.co.uk/wheel-repair-47-c.asp) about wheel repairs.

I've you need to move the car then I've got a spare (it's a runflat on a 17" non-mazda rim) in the garage that you could borrow for a few days.

Two mechanics have looked at the bend and suggested it's non repairable.

I can stick the winter wheels and tyres on temporarily while a refurb or whatever is happening. I just dont feel like dragging a wheel around places for them to tell me it can't be fixed.

You could always just replace two and have different wheels front and back, then sell one good one and scrap the bent one.

Fair enough if it can't be repaired. I had 2 repaired in the past and they were fine. I was told they were at the limit of what could be repaired but being Mk1 Berkeley wheels they were made from heavy & soft material and were actually bent back into shape fairly easily. I wouldn't repair anything that had a kink in it or if they were lightweight wheels which tend to be made of harder/more brittle material.

How about replacing 2 and having different coloured pairs left to right? wink

God's way of saying you should do the upgrade is by bending one of your current wheels. Do the upgrade.
