Another rusty Roadster thread
Discussion
All,
I am being given the opportunity to re-acquire a 1997 Eunos B2, which I sold to my in-laws in early 2013. Since then it has failed an MOT on the dreaded sill rot twice, once on each side. The first time it was repaired, the second tiome it wasn't. It has spent the last 18 months in their nice dry garage. They are now moving house, and are giving me first refusal.
Aside from the rust it is in decent order, has a hard top and a reasonably good hood, nearly new stainless exhaust and looks nice and shiny from about 10 feet away. The rear arches are also a little bit scabby, but not terrible.
I quite fancy a project, so am reasonably keen. When I owned the car the sills had just been patched by the specialist who sold it to me, but then started rusting again almost immediately. Patching doesn't seem to work in the long term.
Does anybody have any experience of the sill and wing repair sections available from a certain mx5 parts website? Are they any good in the long term? Or is it better to go for new Mazda wings and sills?
If taken on it would be summer use only, garaged in the winter. Once repaired I don't want to have to think about the dreaded tinworm again, so am only interested in taking it on if it can be solved properly.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Patching works if done properly. I've had mine done twice. The first time looked OK, but wasn't, and they needed doing again a couple of years afterwards. The second time they were done properly and have been fine ever since.
I think there's a few people on here who have done their own with success and also people like Mazda Mender (other garages are available) who have a good reputation and are reasonable on cost.
