MX5 NA gearbox issue... I have searched already!

Yes, I've searched the internet and the forums already...

Changing up from 2nd to 3rd when the gearbox is cold is no issue, when it's hot the change kind of grinds in. Fine in all other gears. I think it's probably the synchro but hoping someone will tell me something different, I've changed the gearbox and diff oil and no change. Haven't done the turret or replaced the gear change rubbers yet. Not sure if it's worth it or just bite the bullet and put a new box in...

a new box isnt expensive. i sold a box from an immaculate car with under 60k on for about £30. there really is no market for gear boxes

obviously, its not the easiest option. but it certainly isnt an expensive option

What seems weird and I missed from the post is that changing up from 2nd to 3rd it crunches (only when hot), but it's fine going down all the gears. Even from 4th to 3rd. If it was the synchro it seems like that wouldn't happen...

I'm not sure that this will help, but does it happen if you go from 1st to 3rd?

Does crunch going from 1st to 3rd. I've ordered a boot kit from MX5 parts with the plastic bush too. At worst I can transfer it over when I put a new gearbox in, see if it makes any difference with a turret oil change at the same time. That will be Monday. I just don't get why it doesn't crunch going from 4th into 3rd. Weird.
