Off to buy a 2011 MX5 1.8 SE for my Wife and after any advice on what to look for. Car only has 30k on the clock with full service history so not really expecting any problems but you never know. Secondly what would be a good price for such a car, asking price is under 8k. As you can see I have no experience of an MX5laugh

Doesn't seem unreasonable but why not go for a 2l instead?

You'll kick yourself if you don't get a 2.0.

Make sure it has no leaks - drainholes are clear and fixing behind the scuttle panel haven't perished - tell tail signs are damp carpets.

Make sure the oil level is spot on the roof works smoothly. Otherwise they're fairly bulletproof to be honest. She/you'll love it.

Thanks for info, car is for my wife (may drive it on the occasional day).

Only reason I've looked at an MX5 is because of this 1.8 SE being just down the road so have'nt really thought about a 2.0 and if I'm honest the Wife wouldn't know the difference between a 1.1 and 3.0...

Seems crazy but it may be worth checking for rust. Have a google, even the mk3 have been known to rust, but I'm guessing at only 4 years old its unlikely.
