Hello,

Need some new rear tyres for my 2006 Mk3 as one is on the limit.
It's currently running on Toyo Proxes (these came with the car), I used to used these tyres on my TVR years ago as they were then the tyre of choice!

I'm happy to get some more Toyo's but was wondering if you guys had preference to other brands etc.

General all year round driving, nothing mad....probably less than 4000 miles.

Thanks.

If you are only changing the rears get them changed to whatever you have on the front. I'm currently running the Uniroyal Rainsport3's and really like them although I'm not sure I prefer them over the Conti Contactsport 3's I had before them.
I've had Kumho Ecsta ku39's and while I really liked them once warmed up for me they took too long to warm up, maybe someone else's driving style would suit them better.
I've had the Toyo T1-R's as well on my NC and I liked these the least out the the four mentioned but in all honesty they are all good tyres in their own little ways on the MX-5 and unless you get to drive them all thoroughly you should be happy with any of them.
The main thing though is to match up all four corners as that makes the biggest difference.

This is something I'll be looking at soon. I've heard good reviews about Michelin Pilots

Thanks for the response,

Think I will stick Toyos on for now, I may change all 4 next time round.

Hiya
I've michelin pilot super sports on mine and they are brilliant, at the moment I'm at the nurburgring and they really do work the best tyre I've had, they are the next best thing to dedicated track day tyres, there are a lot of cars running today, so that must say something
