Thinking about the DSR that these come with - how important is it to keep that uptodate? And does anyone get their's serviced by an independent who hasn't got access to the DSR? Do you just keep a big wodge of receipts?

My 2007 2.0 Sport is up for service and MOT shortly and just wondering what my options were? Without wishing to unintentionally devalue the car?

DSR and no book is Mazda's cunning way of keeping you in the dealer network for servicing. It's kind of worked with us on the mrs' 2 as it's a 58 plate and has full Mazda history (along with every single invoice), however I ring around and hammer them on price discount so it's barely more expensive than indy servicing anyway.

However if you're going indy I personally would want to see invoices. As long as you keep evidence of all your spends you'll get a good price come sale time.

My indy logs on to the system, fills in the details of the service, and hands me a print out.

They just need to register.

Interesting that, both, cheers! I've always taken my old cars to a FastFit station but they were doing a repair on my MX5 recently and I asked about the DSR - and they said they don't connect to it. I wonder why...

Time to look elsewhere, perhaps.

Can you ask Mazda for a real service book? Merc also do a DSR but you can request a service book if you want one.

Not sure. Worth a go. I've not seen any mention of it in my googling though.
