Mrs Chimp has just sent me some pics as the postie has been.

The windblocker I won on ebay has arrived along with my new head unit I bought with vouchers from my birthday last week.

Can't wait to get into the garage and get them fitted ASAP.

So what have you been treating your wee car to recently?

The more pics the better!

Just bought a set of hollow spoke alloys so that my V-special 2 can have that oem look at some point in the future. They need a refurb, but there's no hurry for that.

New alternator! Old one was looking very tatty and whining horrendously.

Picked up a hardtop a few weeks ago, then over the past couple of weeks its had an engine oil/filter change, diff oil change, gearbox turret refresh, fuel filter and a new CAS and ECU.

Jobs to do are change the gearbox oil and replace heater hose 1 & 2.

Will be going to my brother's tomorrow to pick up a second set of blingy 10AE wheels and a set of new tyres (he's storing them for me). I'll be giving them a clean and taking them to be fitted with the new tyres. The 17"s will be removed (tread getting borderline) to make way for them, ready for the MOT next Saturday.

Much like Vlad, I've gone for some hollow spokes and had them refurbished in April. Not a cheap job overall, but looks nice now...

May will see the rectification of some minor damage caused by an altercation with a pheasant at a decent clip and the June should be a front to back suspension refurb with all bushes, shocks and springs changed - all Mazda OEM as I fancied getting a feel of what one on factory-fresh suspension would be like

Mine, if it's lucky, will get to experience the thrill of being driven. If I ever get the time.

I'm currently treating mine to new brake pads and an MOT.

I have just found out that my girlfriend did GCSE Textiles, so I'll be treating the Roadster to some custom quilted leather door cards in the next few weeks.

Been doing a bit of work on a gauge panel and custom audio install. Offered up the panel today, looking at ways of making it fit nicely in the hole left by the 2 DIN stereo, and it's starting to come together.

By cutting out the bottom frame where the stereo fits, and cutting a couple of notches in the top part of the frame, it sits in rather nicely. I need to make a surround (or perhaps modify the one that came with the old stereo) to finish off where there's a couple of gaps, but other than that I'm happy how it's turning out.

I've got some decals to print up too, which will label the switches. The two on the right I think are obvious. On the far left is bluetooth or USB audio select, and second to the left is audio power on/off. The middle knob is volume control.

Tomorrow, I'll finish soldering up the circuits for the start button lighting and then it just needs a good clean and wired in.

Hopefully get it finished this weekend if it all goes according to plan.

Thanks

I got it all installed and working today. The circuit to pulse the start engine light seems to be faulty, so I'll get in and take a look at a later date, but it's a minor thing.

Still need to sort out a fascia surround to hide the gaps at the sides where it's mounted.

However, I'm particularly pleased with how the back-lighting works on the volume knob. (simple things and all that)

Mine got a wash and polish today, plus I finished fitting all the previously reported parts, still need to get hold of a coil pack as its a bit faulty! Why does the mk2 1.6 coil pack have to be 3 times the price of any other mx5 coil pack!

After getting my fuse blowing issue resolved today, I fitted my new head unit.

Happy to report that now the balance works correctly, the sound is much better than the weird JDM unit that it came with, AND my electric aerial now goes up and down as it should biggrinbiggrin

Topped up the oil (sadly the car gets used for short journeys and burns a fair bit of oil)
Gave it some Wynns HLA treatment too
Got it washed.

All ready for a 500 round mile trip next week, nothing for this car but just in case!

I just spend £575 on welding, new bushes and fixing a leak on the power steering rack.

I probably should have scrapped the poor thing and bought another, but I'm sentimental.
