Had the 4th year service done at local dealer last September, some paint work done under warranty at the same time. Realise today axle oil is due on the 4th service. Dug out invoice, no oil booked, check sheet ticked for oil renewal. Checked oil today, as black as. Changed the oil myself. Only use the dealer as I want the extended warranty. Annoying.....

Not trying to be awkward but why are you surprised?
I would not trust my cars to a garage.
Servicing is most likely going to be done by the lad of the outfit.

Decided this year that i'm doing my own servicing on my mx5 from now on.

Want a half decent job + the prices I was getting quoted have just gone crazy.

Think at 5 years old now dealer servicing is a "luxury"/cost I can do without.

garages are starting to take the piss with servicing. I had to pay £300 ish for my daily to keep my warranty. Went to the car to check the service book (AFTER PAYING!) no stamp... walked back in and told them and they just laughed about it... no appology or anything and just chucked a stamp in the book. What a load of crap.

With most servicing stamps in the book are only on request as the history is all kept on line.

Also, it's worth checking the details of the warranty carefully. In most cases they insist on OEM quality servicing using OEM parts but that doesn't have to mean a main dealer service. There are plenty of specialists that can do the servicing while preserving the warranty.
