I am a 6'6" tall 190lb 20 year old, so I'm pretty skinny. I'm looking into getting my first car in a month or two, however being 20 insurance for a E36 even a 318is would cost me 2000 Euro. I've looked around and a MX5 seams to be the best price/fun choice. I looked around and everybody is saying different things some fit, some don't. I am willing to change out the steering wheel, seats, seat rails as long as I can somewhat fit in it before modifying it.

I'm 6"4 and own an NB Mx5, i fit fine and with a helmet i can still have the roof up and move my head. Google the foamectomy mod, basically removing seat foam for extra headroom smile

I'm 6'2" and don't fit in any MX5, top up with a helmet on with standard (or modified) seats. It depends on your body shape and where your height is. I'm more of a short leg/long body shape.
Lotus Elise/VX220 seats mounted to the stock runners gets you about as low as you are going to get and gives at least 6" extra leg room. You could mount to the floor if you need an extra inch. Elise S1 seats aren't the most comfortable but S2 seats are much better. Look pretty good in an MX5 too...

6'5" and I get in a mk1 ok (is that what this NA code refers to?).

It's tight but it's possible!

Well I have a 38 inch inseam, so I guess my height is evenly spread. I had the idea of finding one for sale and going to see if I fit, however there are no NA's for sale in a 120 mile radius.

Take a look on the OC website and find out what your local area is. Get along to one of their meets and ask nicely if someone will let you sit in their car. Most will be all too happy to say yes. Some will likely let you try driving it too.

I'm your height, have normal legs and a long body. I have good space with elise seats, agree the Mk1s aren't comfortable for long trips but do hold you nicely on track. Roof up with a helmet is marginal, but I never put the roof up on track anyway.

Me neither. Even on a track day in a torrential downpour and another in a blizzard I had the top down smile

I'm 6ft5 and I fit in in NA. its a squeeze though!
I found NB & NC to be a bit too cramped, the slightly plusher interior and tall and wider transmission tunnels means less room for your legs, (36" trousers for me). Saying that there isn't a huge amount of difference between NA & NB.

I'm in the process of making mine "tall bloke friendly" by putting in elise seats and removing the armrest from the doors.

Transmission tunnel is the same on Mk1 & Mk2. The door cards on Mk1 are flat whereas they are sculpted and protrude into the cabin on Mk2 which does rob a bit of knee space for taller drivers.

I was considering an MX5 mk1 and im not too tall for it at all im only 6 foot. I found that it just wast the right position for me to drive the seat didnt go back enough for my liking and my knees were to high. I ended up going for an MR2 MK2 as the space inside is amazing for such a small sporty car.

Yip will fit, is a lot better with an aftermarket dished steering wheel, without one braking is difficult & h&t near impossible.

6'4", with most if my height in my legs. I fit in an NA, but I need to replace the door handles with straps, as my leg is jammed between the wheel and the handle.

It's quite comical trying to climb out with the roof up though!
