Looking for an MX5
Discussion
My friend, hello and welcome....
4 years into my ownership of a Mk1, most things are easy to sort apart from one thing...RUST!!
Do yourself and your wallet a favour, unless you have the skills to sort it yourself, don't buy a rusty one, get a Japanese import and buy on condition, not mileage.

I bought my '96 1.8 import this time last year, after almost giving up. Rust is indeed your worst enemy, but thankfully there are a lot of MX5s around and still many of them properly taken care of. I went for an 1.8 (a little bit more torque than 1.6) because I wanted to have a more comfortable journey on the motorway when needed, although I am not sure if 1.6 is a lot worse.
I love it. It's sharp, fun, honest, no-fuss, gorgeous car (imho).
In terms of where to look for a decent example - and you have the right amount to get a nice NA - you can start with the PH classifieds. You can also keep an eye on the MX5 Owners Club website (www.mx5oc.co.uk) and on the excellent owners forum (www.mx5nutz.com).
Good luck with the search. You will need it

Hi OP, Just dropped you an email. I've decided to part with my cracking condition UK, 1.8 MX5 Mark1 Manual. Its got 72k, only 3 owners and importantly full service history with all receipts from new. Advert just posted on PH Classifieds. Im based in Surrey, South East. Good luck with your search, they really are cracking value for money.
