Mazda mx-5 classic 1997 mk1
Discussion
Hey so I'm new to all this and have bought myself a mx5 which I was told had a new alternator which may help when I come to the problem so I was driving home when the radio cut out then one light also cut out before the wind screen wipers turning on and the whole car cutting out ,
350 pound tow home and the car doesn't even crank over then see the battery fluid had starting leaking also had blown main fuse under bonnet replaced all fuses and battery.
So now all lights work and car then sounds like it's trying to start but doesn't fire up just tick over so check the ht leads and they are not firing up
When I first tried to tick over a car symbol light up with a key sign inside
I'm just wondering if it's the coil pack or if they could be any other fault ie immboliser
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

If your battery has started leaking fluid it sounds as if that's a charging/regulator problem boiling the battery - assuming the casing's not split.
Probably an auto-electrician job.
What you MUST do as soon as possible is neutralise the battery acid as it will play havoc with the bodywork.
You can do this by using baking soda or washing soda in a strong solution.
Google is your friend for this.
Take great care when working around battery acid as it's wicked stuff - thick rubber gloves, not inhaling the fumes, eye protection and no bare flesh for starters.
BOL.
Cheers, Pewe.
