Hi,

I have a Mazda gearbox in a Caterham. Since the Mazda box is quite new to Caterham, someone in the owners club suggested I ask my question here.

I am trying to identify how to add oil to the gearbox. There is a fill level hole on the side, but also this on top. I think this is the fill hole but wanted to confirm this

any help appreciated.

thanks

As above. The fill hole is also the oil level hole.
If it's a 6 speed you can fill though the gear stick well instead but the oil level plug is still the same.
Don't remove any of the other bolts other than the drain & refill plugs. Some of them hold the internals together and removing them would mean a rebuild.

I strongly suspect the OP's gearbox is from a MK3 rather than the responses which have assumed the box is a MK1/2 version.

Caterhams use the duratec motor rather than the B6/BP.

The manual states this:

"Do not remove the 8mm. crank lever shaft, use only the 24mm. drain and fill plugs on the other side of the tranmission. If the 8mm. fitting is removed a gearbox rebuild will be necessary"

Should be obvious which plugs you're removing based on the size. don't touch the 8mm one!
