The weather has turned and i'm trying to work out when i'll get a dry day to get the hard top back on.... (I drive a 2004 mk2.5 s-vt sport btw, don't usually frequent these parts of the forums so hello!)

Has anyone else fitted theirs yet?

Year round ragtops and electric hard tops need not apply wink

I know this has been said before, but the biggest mistake you can do is pop a hard top on for winter. There is nothing like popping the roof down on a crisp winter morning and whacking the heaters on.

Try that when you've gone out with the HT on because it's raining then it's dries up later...

Is it really that desperate to have the hood down as soon as it stop raining, as I said on a crisp winters morning...

Nope am enjoying selling a few and making a fair few quid with the winter tax pushes the prices up. Mine wont have one on but will be getting a new mohair roof made by jack smith in Swansea as mine has a split by the window.

Yes mines on, has been for a couple of weeks now.

The lack of rattles and non soggy interior is a welcome change.

Just put it on this weekend, but mainly due to the rear window splitting

Yep. In an ideal world my mk1 would be tucked up in a mate's garage and come out on crisp weekend mornings for a roof down blast. However, circumstances mean it's sat outside for another few months at least.

So, I bought a hardtop. Hopefully it will preserve the soft-top, so it lasts another summer.

Yup, on since the last storm. I did this in the knowledge that as soon as I put it on, the weather would improve for at least another month. Which it has. Softtop's got a couple of cracks, and as I was going to be leaving it in town a bit more, I thought it would be slightly safer with the h/top. In reality, it just means the scrotes try getting in through the door rather than the roof…
