Buying mk1 - Should I be wary of mudflaps?
Discussion
I'm looking at buying a mk1 - I've found one I like the look of and I want to view it this weekend. I've done a bit of reading and am aware of the issues regarding rotten sills/arches/etc. The car I've seen has front and rear mudflaps. It's a 1995 1.8 S. Can anyone tell me if these were standard fit, or whether they may be an aftermarket/garage attempt to hide problems? Advice?

That's my car! There is a little bit of bubbling under the mud flaps, but not enough to be worried about. With mine you can see plenty of the arches from underneath - if you're concerned, take a torch with you and have a good feel and prod around.
