Hi Guys,

I've got a 1.8 Mk2 and the brake pads are pretty shot so i'm gonna replace them. Car is a weekend car and will have some track use. As a general question what pads will fit the bill and not cost the earth?

I was thinking of yellow stuff pads, but is this overkill?

Cheers Alex

No it is not overkill, I have yellow stuff on a car I use for track and road. They are great work well on the road and the track.

Speak to Roddisons. Got their pads on my mk1, best I have had. Fine on the road from cold and fade free on track.

I have used Yellows... they are pretty good but not the best. Axxis ULT are much better if you can find them and I've heard very good things about Roddisons pads (not tried them myself though).

Don't forget good fluid as well (and the disk of course).

Another yellow stuff user here.

I was sceptical of the hype/forum rubbish, but can't fault them on my NC
Combined with Super Blue fluid and braided hoses and standard discs they are great on the road and stay solid lap after lap on track.

I use Mintex 1144 and they are great, good from cold and even better with a bit of heat in them. Took some abuse around Nurburg and not once had me worried.
