A rather nasty noise !!
Discussion
Hello folks...
I am hoping that one or some of you may be able to advise me !
As I previously wrote on anothers thread, last Thursday I purchased a 1990 Eunos.
I enjoyed 3 days of fun until..... Driving to a car show on Sunday, an awful noise SUDDENLY started from the front of the car.
My immediate thoughts were steering as, although there is no noticeable knocking or vibration on the steering wheel, every time the car is on full lock it disappears.
The 'quite terrifyingly imminent death of a car' noise, speeds up and slows down with forward/backward rate of travel.
I have climbed under the car as best I can and pulled, wigged and thumped everything that I can but cannot replicate the noise.
It is not engine or transmission related as I have rolled the car down the road without either.
I am thinking a CV or something similar but I don't know the ins' and outs' of the MX5 yet.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Many thanks in advance..

Like a broken cv joint but I can get any play in anything
The noise is fairly consistent in sound level but increases its relative frequency with speed .
(edit to make fool of myself)
It's sort of,
conk.........conk......conk...conk..conk.conk.conk.conk.conk

Thanks Lazza but more hardcore mechanical.
Putting the front wheels on the rollers of the MOT station so that I can try and isolate the problem.
That way, the car is under load, weight wise, on the front wheels and emulating normal driving.
Engage rollers and have a good snout around.
Please add any more suggestions as your help and knowledge is really needed and appreciated
( also putting some 'SUMO' rear shocks on as the current ones are buggered... Anyone use these?? )

Ok... Well one of you is correct.
If I state that it is the smallest of 'schoolboy errors', you can guess who is right !!!
As an aside, after having the car lifted, I have replaced both rear shocks and front lower ball joints.
Then passed MOT straight away...
All ready for our first MX5 run this Sunday......
