Warm Gear Stick and Centre Console

I've noticed that the Gear Lever and Centre Console on my Mk1 Eunos 1.6 is getting quite warm after 30 miles or so. There is no noise on changing gear or no change in the feel of the gear change itself. Any ideas of the cause? I suspect that it may be time for a gearbox oil change, but I'm sure you'll be able to advise!

You probably need to replace the gear shift boots (they wear out). Google it, there are loads of how to videos and kits to buy on mx5parts. It's a straightforward job.
