Petrol gauge

Hi.. noticed today that the fuel gauge on my 1989 Eunos seems to be stuck between half and three quarters doesn't move when ignition switched off, worked on Wednesday when I fuelled up to around three quarter tank.
Any hints greatly appreciated.

IIRC fuel guage shows the level whether ignition is on or off - so what's showing is what you have in the tank.
Also note that on fill-up the guage takes time to adjust so you drive off the forecourt and suddenly think "Didn't I just I filled it up"!
In the absence of a low fuel warning light (fairly simple mod on Nutz) I reckon when the left hand edge of the needle reaches the right hand side of the empty mark there's about 50 miles left - but don't quote me on that.

As above, MX5s have a "non-return" fuel gauge so always shows the fuel level, even when switched off.
