Blyton Park 2014

So quite a few Ph smileys at Blyton Park for the OC track day. Had a blast, cheers to Brian C for a useful bit of tuition and race car experience! I was red mk1 with small silver rear smiley, silver rs wats and low meister r's, cranked round to the harder end of course . And yep, I spun... twice - enthusiasm greater than talent! Who else was there?

I was there, although not on track... black MK3, small silver smiley on the rear.

I was there. Green mk2 with yellow stripes.

I own saw one smiley - that was on the back of a yellow mk1. His sticker really stood out.

I popped over yesterday to watch, and it was a delight to see so many mark 1's in the same place! Some track prepared, some lightly modded, but quite a few standard road cars having a go and seemingly keeping up their end!

Kudos to everyone involved in the operations side, it seemed to run extremely smoothly, and MX5 Parts, whose support both in numbers of staff and presentation of products was second to none.

Been two years on the trot to spectate, next year track!

I did partake in the first 2 of these, but was sidelined this year due to continued extreme poverty. I couldn't afford the insurance or cost of getting my MX-5 through the MOT so had to SORN it. Agreed, I still could have gone, but I couldn't see the point of a 400-mile round trip for a trackday I wasn't going to be taking part in, plus the costs of accommodation etc. would still have broken the bank.

I was gutted to see all my mates going and not being able to join them, but at least they all had a great time and it was nice of them to say it wasn't the same without me there.

Now I have to start saving for next year, and getting the car on the road again. I'LL BE BACK.

This event is easily the best thing the OC does and for me it's justifies paying the annual membership on its own.

Fingers crossed it comes back for the forth time next year
