Mk1 Wiper issue

Morning all

I have a strange issue with the wipers on my mk1

When on the first setting (slowest) the wipers 'rest' in the middle of the windscreen. Other than this they perform normally , just returning to rest in the middle of the screen between each motion.

They work perfectly on the other 2 settings returning to the bottom of the screen

Do I need a new motor or is it something else in the mechanism ??

Sounds like a tired motor. At higher speeds there's enough momentum to keep things going which is why it's only noticeable at slow settings. It could just need opening up and lubricating, but also check the linkage isn't stiff.

^This. Lift the wipers off the screen and see if it parks in the right spot. Get some 3in1 down the spindles and on the linkage joints.

Cheers guys, I did think a tiered motor as it seems to want to go all the way down, just runs out off puff half way down!

Before I change the motor I will give everything a good oil this evening and see if that helps and report back.

If I do need to change the motor is there anything i need to watch out for. It looks fairly straight forward?
