Hi All,

Been doing some homework on stainless exhausts for my Mk1 MX-5 (eunos), so far I've been looking at MX5 parts and Cobalt exhausts, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

Also as mine is a 1991 eunos do I require a cat or can I fit a bypass pipe, if so is it recommended?

I'm not looking to join the boy racer club either. Just a normal exhaust note will be fine, with maybe a little rasp in the upper rev range being ideal I guess.

Thanks

Pat

I picked up the mx5parts stainless steel one a couple of years ago. It's branded as IL Motorsport. I think it sounds great, louder than standard certainly but quietens down nicely when potterering around. I left the CAT on my 1990, I've yet to take the leap. Though I believe you don't need the CAT for the MoT.

A '91 Eunos does not need a Catalyst to pass its MOT.

The Cobalt I believe is supposed to be a touch quieter than the MX5parts item.

MX-5 parts item is very well made and very good value given the quality IMO (ecoomies of scale I guess, nearly everyone has had one at some point!)

I have a 94 car with a Tubular manifold, decat, and MX5parts exhaust and it was LOUD. Good loud, but maybe too loud for some people.

Finally - A standard exhaust with a simple decat pipe makes a lovely noise, great for a daily driver, quiet-ish but with just a little more rasp than a standard car.

Vids featuring MX5Parts exhaust mentioned above. (With CAT).
