please advise which engine I have got please

I have recently bought a 1999 (T)REG 1.8sport.(bright red)lol
My problem is, I have to buy some rear brake discs, and they need to know if I have the 1.8 16 valve version or 1.8
I know it's a 1.8 but not if its 16 valve.
Appparently some parts are different and not compatible with 1.8 / 1.8 16 valve.
I have tried searching, but mx5 / 1.8 / 16 valve words are to small for the search engine to pick up.
To help with identification, it has I am told..
Factory fitted rear spoiler and body kit
electric windows
electric mirrors
air conditioning
leather seats and door cards
LSD
140 bhp
log book said it was 1.8i

Is this a sport, if so is it a sport, as in performance label, or looks, i.e the body kit and pretty bits.

Can anyone put me right I have to get discs quick I am missing all this top down,tear arsing around.

Hi, they're all 16 valve engines. He may be trying to differentiate between the "big" brake models and the normal ones. Some of the others on here will have a better idea of what yours may have.

All mx5 are 16 valve brakes for 1.8 and 1.6 diameter for mk1 and 2 are the same so the diameter for discs on the mk1/2 1.6 are the same with the 1.8 being bigger. Only difference is for some mk2.5 which have bigger discs again.

As you have a mk2 then only one choice of size for the 1.8.
